History
The Pimm's Cup is built on Pimm's No. 1, a gin-based fruit cup created by London oyster-bar owner James Pimm in the 1840s as a digestive 'cup.' Lengthened with lemonade or ginger ale and garnished with fruit and cucumber, it became synonymous with English summer, Wimbledon and Henley.
