Cipher & Spirit by From Meadows LLC
Cipher & Spirit is built to live on your device. Your bar, your favorites, your ratings, and your tasting notes are yours. They stay on your phone, and using the app does not require an account. This policy explains exactly what does and does not leave your device, and who the few service providers behind the app are.
1. The Short Version
Cipher & Spirit does not require you to create an account or give us your name, email, or password. The personal data the app generates (your ingredient pantry, favorites, ratings, tasting journal, taste profile, shopping list, and history) is stored locally on your device and is never sent to us.
The cocktail and ingredient library is included in the app itself, so browsing it does not require a network connection and does not send anything to us. The only information that leaves your device is subscription and purchase information, which is handled by Apple, Google, and our subscription provider. We do not run ads and we do not use third-party tracking SDKs.
2. Who We Are
Cipher & Spirit is published by From Meadows LLC. When this policy says "we," "us," or "our," it refers to From Meadows LLC. You can reach us any time at will@cipherandspirit.com.
3. Information Stored On Your Device
The app keeps your personal content in your device's local storage. This includes:
- Your ingredient pantry ("My Bar") and shopping list.
- Favorite cocktails, cocktail history, and "I Made This" logs.
- Cocktail ratings and your Tasting Journal entries.
- Your Taste Profile and flavor preferences.
- App settings and your daily Cocktail of the Day selection.
This data is never transmitted to From Meadows and is not synced to any server we control. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it.
4. The Cocktail Catalog
The library of cocktails and ingredients you browse is reference content that ships inside the app when you download it. Browsing the catalog happens entirely on your device. It does not require a network connection, and it does not send your pantry, favorites, journal, or any other personal content anywhere.
5. Subscriptions & Purchases (Reserve Club)
Reserve Club, the app's premium membership, is an in-app purchase. On iOS, billing is handled by the Apple App Store. On Android, billing is handled by Google Play. From Meadows never sees or stores your payment card or billing details.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements (to know whether your membership is active). RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous, app-generated identifier along with the purchase and receipt information from the store. It cannot identify you personally from this data. To use a membership on another device, sign in to the same Apple ID or Google account and use Restore Purchases. RevenueCat's handling of this information is governed by its own privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy, Apple's by apple.com/legal/privacy, and Google's by policies.google.com/privacy.
6. Service Providers
The app relies on a small number of providers to function:

Apple & Google
Process subscription billing through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
7. Sharing a Cocktail
When you share a cocktail, the app uses your device's built-in share sheet. You choose where it goes and who receives it. The shared message carries the signature line "Shared from Cipher & Spirit." No data about the share is sent back to us.
8. No Advertising or Third-Party Tracking
Cipher & Spirit contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking. We do not build advertising profiles about you.
9. Age & Children's Privacy
Cipher & Spirit is intended for adults of legal drinking age and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app is rated accordingly on the App Store and Google Play because it concerns alcoholic beverages.
10. Data Retention & Deletion
- On-device data: deleted whenever you clear the app's data or uninstall Cipher & Spirit. We hold no copy of it.
- Subscriptions: managed through your Apple ID or Google account. You can view or cancel a membership in your store account settings.
11. Your Choices
- Use the app fully without creating an account.
- Delete all local data at any time by uninstalling the app.
- Manage or cancel Reserve Club through the App Store or Google Play.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Cipher & Spirit after an update means you accept the revised policy.
