History
Created around 1874 by Cayetano Ferrer at the Old Absinthe House in New Orleans, the Absinthe Frappé became a fixture of the city's café culture. Absinthe is built over crushed ice with a touch of sugar and soda, producing a frosty, anise-scented refresher that was praised in song and verse during absinthe's American heyday before the spirit's 1912 ban.
