History
Created by Joseph Santini at his New Orleans bar in the 1850s and recorded by Jerry Thomas in 1862, the Brandy Crusta is a pivotal early cocktail. Its sugar-crusted rim and long spiral of lemon peel — the 'crusta' — make it the direct ancestor of the Sidecar and a forerunner of the whole modern sour family.
