History
The Rickey was born at Shoomaker's bar in Washington, D.C. in the 1880s, reputedly named for lobbyist Colonel Joe Rickey. Originally made with bourbon, the bone-dry mix of spirit, lime and soda became most famous in its gin form during the gin-soaked early 1900s.
