History
Irish Coffee was created by chef Joe Sheridan in 1943 at the flying-boat terminal in Foynes, Ireland, to warm cold and weary transatlantic passengers. It crossed the Atlantic when travel writer Stanton Delaplane brought the recipe to the Buena Vista Café in San Francisco in 1952, where it became an institution.
