History
The Brooklyn is a Manhattan variation built on rye with dry vermouth, maraschino and Amer Picon, and it appears in print as early as Jacob Grohusko's 1908 Jack's Manual. Named for the New York borough, it is the parent of a whole family of modern 'borough' cocktails such as the Red Hook and Greenpoint.
