History
The Margarita — tequila, lime and orange liqueur — is essentially a tequila Daisy ('margarita' is Spanish for 'daisy'), and its true origin is hotly disputed. Competing claims credit a 1930s–40s Tijuana bartender named Carlos 'Danny' Herrera, the Texas socialite Margarita Sames, and several others; none is conclusively proven.
