History

The Seelbach has one of cocktail history's most notorious origin stories. For years it was presented as a 'lost' 1917 recipe from the Seelbach Hotel in Louisville, but in 2016 its true creator, Adam Seger, admitted he had invented both the drink (bourbon, Cointreau, bitters and Champagne) and its elaborate backstory in the 1990s. The fabrication had fooled cocktail writers worldwide.
