History
The Vieux Carré was created by bartender Walter Bergeron around 1937 at the Carousel Bar of the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans. A rich blend of rye, cognac, sweet vermouth, Bénédictine and bitters, it is named for the French Quarter — the 'Vieux Carré,' or 'Old Square' — and distills the city's Creole drinking heritage.
