History
Recorded in Hugo Ensslin's 1916 Recipes for Mixed Drinks and again in Harry Craddock's 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book, the Alaska is a potent marriage of gin and yellow Chartreuse with orange bitters. Craddock jokingly insisted it was 'not, as may be supposed, a product of cold climates,' attributing it instead to a 'very famous old Southern gentleman.'
