History
The Jack Rose is a Prohibition-era sour of applejack, citrus and grenadine, popular in the 1910s and 20s and name-checked in Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises. The origin of its name is disputed — candidates include the Jacqueminot rose, the pinkish color, and a notorious gambler named 'Bald Jack' Rose.
