History

The Last Word — equal parts gin, green Chartreuse, maraschino and lime — originated at the Detroit Athletic Club around 1916 and is attributed to vaudeville performer Frank Fogarty. Forgotten for decades, it was rediscovered by Seattle bartender Murray Stenson in 2004 and became one of the defining cocktails of the modern revival.
