Oaxaca Old Fashioned
A smoky twist on the classic with mezcal and tequila.

Ingredients
- Tequila Reposado1.5 oz (45 ml)
- Mezcal0.5 oz (15 ml)
- Agave Nectar0.25 oz (7.5 ml)
- Angostura Bitters2 dashes
How to make it
- Stir all ingredients with ice.
- Strain over a large cube.
- Express orange peel and flame it.

History
The Oaxaca Old Fashioned was created by Phil Ward at Death & Co in New York around 2007. By splitting the base between tequila and mezcal and sweetening with agave, Ward made a smoky, agave-driven Old Fashioned that did much to popularize mezcal in the American cocktail scene.
