History
Named for a beach and iron mine near Santiago de Cuba, the Daiquiri is credited to American mining engineer Jennings Cox around the turn of the 20th century. The simple rum, lime and sugar sour was carried back to the US, championed by Navy officers, and perfected at Havana's El Floridita bar.
