History
The French 75 is said to have been created at Harry's New York Bar in Paris during World War I and named for the French 75mm field gun, for the drink's powerful kick. Combining gin (or, in some accounts, cognac), lemon and Champagne, it was codified in Harry Craddock's 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book.
